Kenny Chesney Lights Up the Fourth

 June 18, 2008 - Kenny Chesney has the Statue of Liberty in his sites for Independence Day; he's set to appear on the annual NBC special "Macy's 4th Of July Fireworks Spectacular," held in New York City.

Kenny will sing "Never Wanted Nothing More" during the telecast, which will also feature pop vocalist Natasha Bedingfield and former "American Idol" participants Katharine McPhee and Jordin Sparks, plus the New York Pops Orchestra, which is slated to play patriotic classics, as well as "Rock Around The Clock" and "The Tennessee Waltz."

That comes right in the middle of a busy period at home in Nashville. On July 3, the local winner of his Next Big Star competition - which allows an unsigned act to open his Music City stadium show - will be determined in a final contest at the Hard Rock Café. On July 5, Kenny stages his show in Nashville at LP Field with Keith Urban, LeAnn Rimes, Sammy Hagar and Gary Allan.

Kenny has one other stadium show slated before then. He plays Chicago's Soldier Field on Saturday with Keith, LeAnn, Gary and Luke Bryan.
